A Rhea EMS Shift Supervisor, Joshua Tyler Dannels, is behind bars this evening in Cumberland County on charges out of Mississippi for Statutory Rape of a 14 year old.
While we are waiting to confirm employment information from Rhea EMS, Dannels LinkedIn Profile shows that he has been a Paramedic Supervisor since November of 2021 at Rhea EMS. It also states that he is an Emergency Medical Services Instructor at Chattanooga State Community College. We have confirmed with Chattanooga State that Dannels is a former instructor with the college and is no longer an instructor there.
While details on these specific charges are unavailable at this time, this isn’t the first time Dannels has been behind bars.
Dannels has been arrested several times in Cumberland County, TN for domestic assault. He was also arrested in Sevier County TN for being in possession of a firearm while intoxicated during an incident at Soaky Mountain Water Park that left one dead back in 2021. Dannels was with Sarah Romine, a Knoxville EMT, who was charged with 2nd degree murder because of the incident.
Dannels also has a record in Rhea County. Back in October of 2023 Dannels was arrested for Evading Arrest and Speeding. According to Dannels social media accounts, he was employed with Rhea EMS at the time of the arrest on these charges.
According to a Disciplinary Action Report from the State of TN, Dannels EMS license was placed on probation in June of 2019 due to him pleading guilty to a reckless endangerment charge in Cumberland County back in 2018. The probation lasted 6 months and Dannels had to undergo Anger Management. According to the states website, Dannels license is active.
Rhea County Observer is waiting to confirm whether or not Dannels is still employed with Rhea EMS as of press time Sunday.
Stay tuned for more details on this developing story.
