On February 16, 2024 Rhea County Economic Tourism Council announced they will have a new Executive Director take the reigns in May of this year.
“Rhea Economic and Tourism Council, Inc. (RETC) has announced the addition of Rhea County native, Alex Green as the new RETC Executive Director effective May 13, 2024,” Stephania Motes, RETC Executive Chariman, announced in their recent press release.
Green has a tremendous amount of background in marketing, communications, and public relations. He is currently the Marketing and Communications Director for SimplyBank. Green is also an alumni of Bryan College here in Dayton, TN.
Green also volunteers locally and is the President of the United Way of Rhea County, Board of Director at the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Dayton Rotary Club.
“RETC is pleased to be adding an individual with such skills and experience to help meet our goals for economic growth in Rhea County,” said Motes. “We look forward to welcoming Alex as the Executive Director of RETC on May 13.”
This new appointment comes after John Bamber turned in his notice to take a position with his parents business. Bamber stayed on as a consultant until November 1, 2023. From that date and still currently, the organization is being ran by Stephania Motes (Executive Chairman) and County Executive Jim Vincent (Vice-Chairman).
We reached out to former RETC Director Dennis Tumlin for a comment. This is his response:
“I am thrilled with the appointment of Alex Green as the next Executive Director of the Rhea Economic & Tourism Council. I’m confident that Alex is the right person to take Rhea County’s economic success to the next level for many years to come. My team at the TN Dept. Of Tourist Development stands ready to partner with Alex and his team to quickly onboard and assist with a smooth transition.”
