The City of Dayton Parks and Recreation Board met on Wednesday night to discuss several different topics regarding Dayton’s parks. During the meeting, Will Tholken, Parks and Recreation Director, announced to the Board that the City Council had approved the funding for a new disc golf course at Delaware Ball Fields.
This 18-hole Disc Golf Course will be strategically placed on the east side of the soccer fields and will go along the north side of Delaware Ball Fields. (Further maps and diagrams will be attached to this article once obtained from the City of Dayton.)
The City of Dayton is set to begin this project after the first of the year. No expected completion date has been announced yet. You can count on us here at The Rhea County Observer to keep you up to date on this project.
Other aspirations for additions to Delaware Ballfields were also discussed. There are plans to try and put playground equipment on location. “There’s not much there for kids right now,” said Director Tholken. “We’re working to remedy that.” The placement and coordination of the equipment is still to be determined. Further discussions will be had in future meetings.
The Parks and Rec Board meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:15 pm. All meetings take place at City Hall in Dayton and are always open to the public.
