On Wednesday night at the City of Dayton’s Park and Recreation meeting, concerned parents attended the meeting to express concerns about the FootBall field and its facilities. The football field that they play on hasn’t been updated in quite sometime according to parents, and it’s in desperate need of repairs.
“During a recent storm we had back in August, we lost a roof which rendered the locker room, weight room, and equipment storage building useless,” said one of the coaches that attended the meeting. “We’ve been having to use the concession stand for locker rooms and equipment storage.”
The press box roof is also in need of serious repair, along with the score board. “We had 4 home games last year and the score board failed during all 4 games,” spoke one of the coaches.
City Manager, David Shinn, was in attendance of the meeting and he advised the concerned parents that the City Council, which is also the School Board, is working on plans to upgrade the facilities, however, final plans were still unknown. “They actually discussed it in detail at the last commission meeting, but nothing has been decided yet,” Shinn stated.
We will continue to find out more about this developing story and will continue to update as we find out more.
