Larry Gene Roddy, long time Rhea County Attorney, passed away on February 23rd at the age of 73 years old. Larry was a Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grand Father. He was also a friend to many in the community.
Roddy also served in the Air Force for 6 years and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
As successful attorney here in Rhea County, Roddy was a staple in this community serving the citizens of Rhea County for many years. Roddy even ran for General Sessions Judge in 2014.
Larry held a degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and a law degree from University of Memphis. He practiced in Chattanooga, TN with former state Sen. William H. Ortwein from 1978 until 2002. After that, he moved his practice to Dayton.
Larry will be missed by this entire community.
“I was honored to call Larry a friend. He was an excellent attorney who gladly took on cases for those who needed help, even when it offered little or no benefit to him personally,” said Rhea County General Sessions Judge Jace Cochran. “Beyond his skill and professionalism as an attorney, he was a wonderful, Godly person. Unfailingly kind, generous, and upbeat. Larry is better now that he’s with his Savior, but our community is worse for his absence. We will not see his like again, and I will miss him.”
Funeral services will take place at Sale Creek Church of God Tuesday on February 27, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Brother Terry Bolton, the Pastor at Sale Creek Church of God, will be officiating.
