Authorities in Rhea County announced on Friday that Christon Jones has been charged with criminal homicide after the shooting death of a 7-year-old boy in Rhea County last weekend. Jones has been booked into Rhea County jail awaiting his first court appearance.
Rhea County authorities will not release any more information at this time due to this being an active investigation.
Last weekend a 911 call came into the 911 center about a gun being discharged inside of a home on Upperfine Lane and that a 7-year-old male had been shot. Detective Rocky Potter said that the young boy was then taken over to Rhea Medical Center by his family and then transferred to Erlanger. He died on Monday.
