Georgia Officials have confirmed that Tennessee State Senator Ken Yager was arrested Tuesday for DUI and a hit and run. He was booked into the Glynn County jail after authorities spotted his vehicle in a parking lot that fit the description of a vehicle that was involved in a hit and run accident on Jekyll Island.
When authorities made contact with Ken Yager, there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from Yager. Also when authorities arrived, there was an ambulance on scene that responded to a “person fell” call and was evaluating a patient that had fallen. That patient happened to be Senator Yager.
Yager posted bail and was released from jail today, Wednesday December 4th.
Yager currently serves District 12 in the State Senate. He represents Campbell, Clay, Fentress, Macon, Morgan, Overton, Pickett, Roane and Scott Counties. Yager used to represent Rhea County, but due to counties moving around when redistricting happened, Rhea County got moved into District 1. District 1 is now represented by Adam Lowe.
We reached out to Senator Yager’s office in Nashville and have not heard back for comment. You can count on the Rhea County Observer to keep you updated on this developing story.
