On February 8th, Deputy Greg McCowan of Blount County Sheriff’s Office, was shot and killed in the line of duty and another deputy was wounded. The TBI has issued a blue alert for the suspect, Kenneth Wayne Dehart, and now there is a $50,000 reward for anyone who gives information leading to his arrest.
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced that the U.S. Marshals service is offering a $10,000 reward and Smith & Wesson CEO Mark Smith is offering a $40,000 in addition to the existing $10,000 reward.
Dehart is described as a black male that has dreadlocks, 42 years old, possibly driving a silver Lexus, and is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you see Dehart, do not approach him.
Anyone with information in regards to Dehart’s whereabouts is asked to call the Blount County Sheriff’s Office at 865-981-7125 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
Our prayers are with the Blount County Sheriff’s office and Deputy McCowan’s family and friends for this awful and spineless act against law enforcement. Kenneth Wayne DeHart, you will be found sir and when you are, may God have mercy on your soul.
