Boys and Girls Club, an organization that strives to empower youth to excel in school and lead healthy and productive lives, is coming to Rhea County! Things are still in the beginning stages, however, they have already hit the ground running with a board of directors that are excited to get to work for the youth in our community.
“It’s all about the kids,” says President Dustin Henderson.
They haven’t found a location yet, however, they are actively looking. When they get a location nailed down, then they will be able to schedule an opening date.
They are a 501c3 non-profit organization, so they can accept donations. In fact, they’ve already been doing some fundraising. Back in December they set up a fundraising booth at the Rhea County Ice Skating rink.
“We’re currently working on planning a banquet in the spring,” Dustin advised. Stay tuned for more details on that.
Boys and Girls Clubs are all over the Country. Having one in Rhea County will open up the opportunity for our youth to have more safe and exciting opportunities. You can count on Rhea County Observer to keep you updated on the progress of this exciting opportunity.
Boys and Girls clubs provide programs that promote sports and recreation, education, the arts, health and wellness, workforce readiness, and building character and leadership. What specific programs the local club will offer is still being decided.
